Chevy's new 2021 Trailblazer crossover and SUV bridges the gap that exists between subcompacts and compacts. It joins competitors like the Kia Selto, Honda HR-V, Jeep Renegade, Mazda CX-3 and Toyota CH-R in this growing category of small SUVs and mini crossovers.

It is a small car with a light weight, but it performs well, thanks to the turbocharged engine. Along with the engine, Trailblazer also offers front- or four-wheel drive and a nine speed automatic transmission.
Two trim levels are available, the L and LS. The L has a $19,000 starting price and comes with a 137-horsepower 1.2-liter turbocharged engine. It is equipped with a continuously variably automatic transmission.
The LS is the most sophisticated model, and it comes with a 1.3-liter turbocharged 177 hp engine. The 1.3-liter turbocharged motor has a lot more acceleration than the 1.6-liter engine.
The base LS model is equipped with features such as remote keyless entry, Bluetooth, an infotainment system, cruise control and tinted windows. Additional features can be added, including blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert and lane changing alert.
A high-definition camera for the rear and adaptive cruise can be added. You can also upgrade to the Technology package, which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, along with satellite radio.
Inside, the Trailblazer ACTIV is fairly well laid out. The seats are made of good quality cloth and the instrumentation is easily readable and features a configurable Driver Information Center. The storage space in the center console is ample. You can also fold the back seats to increase cargo capacity.
Trailblazer provides a smooth driving experience. However, it suffers from a harsh ride on potholes. The Trailblazer has a harsh ride over potholes and road imperfections, which some of its higher-priced rivals don't have. But this could be a deal-breaker to many buyers in the market for a new smaller SUV.
