India's government has launched a rocket from India to promote space exploration. The LVM3M2-M2 rocket launched with a payload of 5,796 kg, which is a record for an Indian rocket. It placed satellites in Low Earth Orbit, which is approximately 1,200 kilometers above earth's surfaces.
India has the largest satellite constellation and the first mission to launch the RS-1 satellite was on an SLV-3 rocket. This mission was completed in 1980. ISRO has since developed many deep space missions, satellite systems and other technologies. It manages the GAGAN satellite navigator system and has sent two missions, one to Mars and one to the Moon.
Shatner in Space
William Shatner is getting ready to become the oldest person to ever travel into space. Blue Origin's New Shepard Spacecraft will take the actor. The trip will take place sometime in 2020. While it will be a long journey, Shatner will be in good company.
Amazon Prime Video will air a special on William Shatner's space trip. The special will air in the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom starting Dec. 15, and others soon thereafter. Shatner fans will enjoy this behind-the scenes look at Shatner’s space mission.
